Fix Pomelli Access Errors & Common Issues

Issue #1: "Pomelli is Not Available in Your Region"

Why This Happens

Pomelli is currently in public beta with limited regional availability. As of November 2025, it's only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Solution 1: Check Official Availability

1. Visit labs.google.com
2. Look for the Pomelli project card
3. If you see "Join Waitlist" → you can sign up for future access
4. If you don't see Pomelli at all → not available in your region yet

Solution 2: Use a Google Workspace Account

Some users report that Google Workspace (business) accounts get priority access:

• If you have a work/business Google account, try signing in with that
• Educational accounts (@edu) also sometimes have access

Solution 3: Join the Waitlist (Patient Approach)

If you're willing to wait:

1. Join the official waitlist at labs.google.com/pomelli
2. You'll get an email when it's available (usually 2-6 weeks)

Issue #2: "Error Loading Pomelli" or Blank Screen

Why This Happens

• Browser compatibility issues
• Ad blockers interfering
• Outdated browser version
• Cached data causing conflicts

Solution 1: Clear Cache and Cookies

For Chrome:

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Cmd+Shift+Delete on Mac)
2. Select "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files"
3. Time range: "Last 7 days" or "All time"
4. Click "Clear data"
5. Restart browser and try again

For Firefox/Safari:

• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Clear Data
• Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data → Remove All

Solution 2: Disable Browser Extensions

Ad blockers and privacy extensions can interfere with Pomelli:

1. Open browser extensions/add-ons page
2. Temporarily disable:
   • Ad blockers (uBlock Origin, AdBlock, etc.)
   • Privacy extensions (Privacy Badger, Ghostery)
   • Script blockers (NoScript)
3. Reload Pomelli
4. If it works, whitelist labs.google.com in your extensions

Solution 3: Try Incognito/Private Mode

This helps identify if extensions or cached data are the problem:

1. Open an incognito/private window (Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome)
2. Sign in to Google
3. Navigate to labs.google.com/pomelli
4. If it works → the issue is with your main browser profile

Solution 4: Update Your Browser

Pomelli requires a modern browser:

• Minimum versions: Chrome 110+, Firefox 110+, Safari 16+
• Check your version: Help ? About (in browser menu)
• Update if needed and restart

Issue #3: "Authentication Failed" or Sign-In Loop

Why This Happens

Google account authentication issues, often related to:

• Multiple Google accounts signed in simultaneously
• Corporate account restrictions
• Cookie/session conflicts

Solution 1: Single Account Sign-In

1. Sign out of ALL Google accounts
2. Clear browser cookies
3. Sign in to ONLY ONE Google account
4. Then navigate to Pomelli

Solution 2: Check Account Type

Certain account types might have restrictions:

• Workspace accounts: Check with your admin if Labs is allowed
• School accounts: Educational restrictions might apply
• Personal accounts: Should work without issues

Solution 3: Reset Google Sessions

1. Go to myaccount.google.com/security
2. Scroll to "Your devices"
3. Sign out of all other sessions
4. Try Pomelli again

Issue #4: Generation Fails or Gets Stuck

Why This Happens

• Server overload (Pomelli is popular!)
• Complex prompts taking too long
• Connection interruptions

Solution 1: Simplify Your Prompt

If generation hangs:

• ❌ "Create a photo-realistic image of a bustling coffee shop interior with customers, baristas, espresso machines, pastries, modern industrial design, natural lighting, and warm autumn colors"
• ✅ "Coffee shop interior, modern design, warm lighting"

Solution 2: Try Off-Peak Hours

Pomelli is slower during peak times (9am-5pm EST):

• Try early morning or evening
• Weekends are usually less congested

Solution 3: Refresh and Retry

1. If stuck for more than 60 seconds, refresh the page
2. Your project should auto-save
3. Try generating again with the same or simplified prompt

Issue #5: Poor Quality Results or AI "Doesn't Understand"

This Isn't Really a Bug

But it's a common frustration! The issue is usually prompt quality.

Solution: Master Prompt Writing

• Be specific: "Modern" instead of "nice"
• Include context: "For Instagram" helps Pomelli understand format
• Mention style references: "Minimalist like Apple ads"
• Specify colors: Don't leave it to chance

Issue #6: Export Fails or Download Doesn't Start

Solution 1: Check Browser Downloads

• Look in your browser's download folder
• Check if browser is blocking downloads (look for notification bar)
• Ensure popup blocker isn't interfering

Solution 2: Try Different Export Format

1. If PNG fails, try JPG
2. If both fail, try SVG (smaller file)
3. You can always convert formats later

Solution 3: Right-Click Export

As a workaround:

1. Right-click on your design in the canvas
2. Select "Save image as..."
3. This bypasses Pomelli's export function
